The management of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) in New Delhi has ensured the development of Kondapalli Toys, Handicrafts and Historical Kondapalli Fort. SPA officials, who met NTR Collector G. Lakshmisha on Monday, discussed promoting the vanishing crafts of Kondapalli and historic Khilla.
“Kondapalli toys are known all over the country and artisans need proper support and encouragement. I request SPA management to come together in promoting Kondapalli brand toys,” said Mr. Lakshmisha.
SPA officials said the matter would be brought to the notice of the institute director and other officials. The SPA management would help set up the Kondapalli Toys Experience Centre, the Collector said. “There is a need to protect the art of Kondapalli and pass it on to the next generation. We are trying to provide raw materials and sell the famous toys,” Mr. Lakshmisha told SPA officials.
The government plans to develop Kondapalli as a model village and tourist spot, provide financial and market support to artisans and beautify the fort with SPA, the Collector said.
