Citizens who missed the chance to register themselves in the electoral roll for the 2025 local body elections in Kerala will get an opportunity to add their names on Tuesday (November 4) and Wednesday (November 5).
The supplementary list will be published on November 14.
Eligible citizens whose names do not appear in the final voter list released on October 25 can avail this opportunity, State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan said on Monday.
The 2025 elections are being held for all local bodies in the state, except for the Mattannur municipality in Kannur, where the five-year term will not expire this year. The public can also use the two-day period to apply to exclude ineligible voters, make corrections and move names from one precinct to another. Overseas voters can also use this opportunity to register, Mr. Shajahan said.
Electoral registration officers will follow up on applications and publish a supplementary list on November 14. Political parties receive free copies.
The decision to grant the additional opportunity was taken on the basis of Sections 23 and 24 of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act and Sections 79 and 80 of the Kerala Municipalities Act, which deal with the inclusion and correction of entries in the electoral rolls.
Those who turned 18 on or before January 1, 2025 can add their names to the list. Applications can be submitted online on the commission’s website, Form 4 is for registration, Form 6 for corrections, Form 7 for transposition and Form 6A for foreign voters. After the application is filed, the applicant will be issued a computer-generated Notice of Hearing. They should attend the meeting in person with relevant documents.
The final voter list released by the commission on October 25 had a total of 2,84,30,761 voters.
The 2025 elections will be held in 941 grama panchayats, 86 municipalities, six corporations, 152 block panchayats and 14 district panchayats.
