Noida International Airport starts operations as the first flight from Lucknow landing

Noida International Airport welcomed its first passengers on Monday (June 15, 2026) as it began commercial flight operations with the inaugural IndiGo flight arriving from Lucknow.

Later in the day, IndiGo flights from Noida to Lucknow transported 170 farmers from Jewar. The farmers, whose land was acquired for the construction of the airport, met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the state capital.

Developed as the second airport in the National Capital Region, the Noida International Airport will initially handle 12 flights a day. The number is to increase to 42 flights per day from July. The operation will start with domestic routes, while international flights are expected to start in the coming months.

IndiGo and Akasa Air have announced services from the airport. The destinations to be connected include Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Jammu, Bareilly, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Pantnagar and Kishangarh.

Access to taxi services

To improve connectivity, passengers will have access to taxi and taxi services as well as an extensive network of bus routes.

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has started services connecting the airport to many cities including Agra, Firozabad, Hathras, Mathura, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Lucknow, Sarai Kale Khan, Palwal and Faridabad.

Delhi Transport Corporation has also introduced services from Kashmir Gate and Anand Vihar Interstate Bus Station. Private operators like RedBus and Zingbus will connect the airport with cities including Dehradun, Lucknow and Chandigarh.

A rapid rail and metro link connecting the Noida International Airport with the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is also planned to ensure seamless connectivity between the two airports.

In the first phase of development, the airport has one runway and the capacity to handle 12 million passengers per year. When fully built, it will have four runways and will be able to handle 70 million passengers a year.

The union cabinet gave in-principle approval for a second airport for the National Capital Region at Jewar in June 2017, after which Switzerland’s Zurich Airport International AG was selected as the concessionaire for its development. The official foundation and foundation ceremony took place on November 25, 2021.
