South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt continued her incredible run at the 2025 Women’s World Cup and created history during the final against India in Navi Mumbai on Sunday 2 November. With her latest knock, Wolvaardt has now set a new record for most runs scored in a single edition of the Women’s ODI World Cup.
The elegant right-hander was the backbone of South Africa’s batting line-up throughout the tournament, consistently delivering match-winning performances. Her composed innings against India in the final fetched her 512 runs, breaking the previous record held by Australia’s Alyssa Healy.

Healy amassed 509 runs during the 2021/22 World Cup in New Zealand, at an average of 56.55, in what was then regarded as one of the best batting campaigns in the tournament’s history. However, Wolvaardt has now gone a step further – combining consistency with class to lead the Proteas in their pursuit of India’s target of 299 runs in the final.
