Kuldeep Yadav has been dropped from India’s T20I squad to be part of the ongoing India A versus South Africa A series at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Kuldeep will return home to take part in the second four-day match against South Africa starting on November 6.
A BCCI release said the decision was taken to give the spinner enough game time in red-ball cricket to be ready for the upcoming home Test series against South Africa. Kuldeep has played just two matches during the ongoing series, the first being a washout where he was not bowled.
The 30-year-old was expensive in the second T20I but got two wickets. In the third game, Kuldeep was not picked as India won the match by five wickets.
“The Indian team management has requested the release of Kuldeep Yadav from the ongoing T20I series in Australia to participate in India A’s series against South Africa A at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. The second four-day match begins on November 6.”
“A decision has been taken to give Kuldeep time to play with the red ball in preparation for the upcoming two-match IDFC First Bank Test series against South Africa,” the BCCI said in a statement.
India decided not to bring a replacement for Kuldeep for the remaining two matches the series tied at 1:1.
India A leads the series against South Africa A 1-0 after winning the first match by three wickets.
