Kerala Chief Electoral Officer Rathan Kelkar and election officials help Jaya, a resident of Podiyam tribal settlement in Thiruvananthapuram, fill the SIR enumeration form on Saturday:
Election officials received the first completed enumeration form for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Kerala electoral rolls on the Kerala Formation Day on Saturday.
Jaya, a resident of Podiyam tribal settlement in Kuttichal panchayat in the district, became the first person to fill and return the enumeration form, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.
Although the general distribution of forms will not begin until November 4, CEO Rathan Kelkar and senior election officials have visited the settlement as part of efforts to include all eligible citizens in the electoral roll. Sharanya, the booth level officer for Aruvikkar, accepted the form from Mrs. Jaya.
Applications were received from a total of 16 individuals from Podiyam and Kamalam tribal settlements on Saturday.
In mid-September, Mr. Kelkar visited the Attappady tribal belt in Palakkad district. There he launched the scheme of CEO @ Unnathi – Get ready SIR.
Mr. Kelkar said on Saturday that he plans to visit tribal settlements in Idukki, Palakkad and Wayanad districts once the SIR exercise begins in earnest.
The house-to-house enumeration phase of SIR will begin on November 4 and will last for a month. During this phase, the BLOs will distribute the pre-printed list forms to all the voters mentioned in the voters list as on 27th October. The process of verifying and excluding ineligible voters will begin after the draft lists are published on December 9. The hearing and verification period will run from December 9 to January 31, 2026. Final lists will be published on February 7
Additional CEOs Sharmila C. and Krishnadasan P., Joint CEO Rusi RS, Deputy Collector Smitha Rani and Additional District Magistrate Jayakumar were present.
On Saturday, the general manager also discussed with apartment owners’ associations.
