Quelling rumors of alleged demolition of Hathiramji Mutt, Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar has announced that the mutt will be rebuilt in the same style as the previous building. He also assured that people from the Banjara community would be given priority and provided necessary facilities in the reconstructed premises.
Along with MLA Arani Srinivasulu and district in-charge joint collector N. Maurya, he conducted a review meeting with members of the Hathiramji Mutt committee at the video conference room in the Collectorate on Saturday. During the meeting, he urged the members not to believe the misconceptions being spread that the entire mutt would be demolished.
The Collector said, “As per the directions of the district committee, we appointed an expert committee and accepted their suggestions. IIT-Tirupati director Prasanna Kumar and School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, director RNS Murthy examined the building and said everything can be renovated.”
“Experts said that the building was earlier built using the Madras terrace roofing technology and now it can be reconstructed in the same way. It uses only lime mortar, wood, bricks and does not contain cement or concrete. According to the current technology, it is called Rain-forest Cement Concrete,” he informed.
