Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu distributed pensions under the NTR Bharosa scheme at Peddannavaripalle village in Talupula mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district on Saturday.
The Chief Minister walked through the narrow lanes of the village to personally hand over the pensions to the beneficiaries in various categories.
Interacting with the recipients on the occasion, Mr. Naidu said the gesture reflected the NDA government’s commitment to “transparent and compassionate governance”.
The Chief Minister first called Medu Mallayya, an 80-year-old artisan, and handed over the ‘Kalaakar Pension’ to him. On learning that Mr. Mallayya’s wife was suffering from paralysis, Mr. Naidu said that immediate medical attention would be provided.
He later visited the residence of Medy Reddam, a widow who was looking for a place for a house and financial assistance for housing. The Chief Minister assured that her request would be given due consideration.
Mr. Naidu later worked with Meda Maheshwari, a recipient of “Bangaru Kutumbam” under the P4 programme. She was looking for a job opportunity and educational support for her three children. Ms. Maheshwari also sought medical help for her ailing mother.
D. Chaitanya, an agricultural labourer, urged the Chief Minister to allot him a house and sought educational support for his children.
Later, addressing the villagers, Mr Naidu said the NTR Bharosa scheme symbolized the government’s commitment to “restore dignity to old people, widows and vulnerable families” who were neglected under the previous YSRCP regime.
Accusing the YSRCP government of “manipulating welfare systems for political gain”, Mr Naidu promised to restore trust through direct, corruption-free welfare delivery.
On arrival at the helipad in the village, the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by Ministers A. Satya Prasad (Revenue) and S. Savitha (BC Welfare); Hindupur MP BK Parthasarathi; District Collector A. Syam Prasad; and Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar.
Kandikunta legislators Venkata Prasad (Kadiri), Paritala Sunitha (Raptadu) and Palle Sindhura Reddy (Puttaparthi), former Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy, BJP Vice President Vishnuvardhan Reddy and Minority Corporation Chairman Parveen Bhanu were present among others.
