Retired teachers from Government Arts College, Thycaud gather to share memories

On a rainy morning recently at the Government Arts College in Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, the voices that have shaped generations of students resounded.

Organized by former teachers of the college, the meeting turned into a journey of memories and a tribute to teaching rather than just a regular meeting.

He opened the program on a solemn note with a moment of silence in memory of deceased teachers whose contributions continue to thrive through their students and colleagues.

“Government Arts College remains one of the best educational institutions I have taught in, not only for its academics but also for the human bonds it has fostered,” said Hilda Joseph, who initiated the gathering.

Former faculty members Rajendran Nair and Sukumaran Nair reminisced about their teaching years and the memories of the students they loved and are still close to. They also talked about how teaching changed their perspective. K. Murugan, former director, recalled the initiatives taken during his tenure.

As the interactive lessons continued through lunch, the smiles and laughter on the retired teachers’ faces underscored how meaningful the event was to them.

Other retired teachers including B. Unnikrishnan, Sudershanan Pillai, Sujay and Rajeev helped organize the rally.

School principal B. Ashok and vice-principal Ajith were awarded certificates of appreciation for their role in organizing the meet.
