AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying that the BJP has turned into a burden for Gujarat and that in this election people will unite to remove it.
Addressing the Mahapanchayat, AAP National Assembly Arvind Kejriwal said, “One hundred and fifty years ago on October 31, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on this sacred soil of Gujarat and today we are celebrating his 150th birth anniversary. Sardar Patel is known as the Lion of India, the greatest struggle in the history of Indian Sardars and India. Vallabhbhai Patel In 1918, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel led the Kheda movement against the British and in 1928 he led the Bardoli satyagraha and the British had to accept all their demands.
“When Sardar Patel led the movement a hundred years ago, the British never lathi-charged, never fired teargas shells, never filed false FIRs (First Information Report) and registered cases under Section 307 to send farmers to jail,” he added.

He claimed, “In the last 75 years, the people of Gujarat have never seen such a cruel, oppressive and arrogant government. Farmers are demanding an end to ‘karda pratha’. BJP promised to provide MSP (minimum support price) to farmers when it formed the central government, but MSP has not been provided yet. When a farmer brings his crop for pratha, farmers are not paid the full price; they have denied their rightful dues Despite this, the police she entered farmers’ houses and beat their children.
The former Delhi leader added: “The mother of one jailed farmer told me that her son was fighting for the freedom of poor farmers. She said, ‘Crush my son all you want, I don’t care.’ I told my mother not to worry. Aam Aadmi Party stands with farmers. I am also your son; the police will beat your son later but they will beat me first. I’ll go to jail first.”
Pointing to the BJP’s use of the police, he said, “All the farmers of Gujarat voted for the BJP in large numbers and the BJP has been in government for the last 30 years. Did the farmers of Gujarat vote for their children to be jailed? Today, the BJP has developed an arrogance of power. There is huge anger among farmers across Gujarat, people who are against the police are using this police as a shield if the BJP one day stops relying on the police, the farmers of Gujarat will pull the BJP people out of their homes and hunt them down – they will have nowhere to take shelter.”
The AAP chief claimed that farmers from more than 400 mandis are united and anti-government movements are going on in all the mandis.
A top AAP official criticized the BJP’s “subordination to foreign pressure” and pointed out, “Farmers from over 400 mandis are united and movements are going on in all the mandis. BJP is so cowardly that they are getting threats from the President of the United States every day and they are carrying them out. When Trump asked to lift import duty on oil from the US to the US, Trump agreed with Russia; the BJP stopped buying.”
