Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (June 15, 2026) said the NDA government’s 12-year focus has been increasingly on improving the quality of life of ordinary citizens, working on easier access to opportunities, better infrastructure, improved public services and quality education, among others.

Ending his ‘government for the middle class’ dispensation, Mr Modi went on to say that it was a privilege to work towards the fulfillment of the aspirations of the middle class as it has contributed in innumerable ways to nation building.

“Over the past decade, the administration has increasingly focused on improving the quality of life of ordinary citizens. Our efforts are about easier access to opportunities, better infrastructure, improved public services, affordable healthcare, quality education, cleaner cities and reduced burdens in everyday life,” Mr Modi said in a post on X.

Rising living standards

‘MyGov India’, the central government’s flagship citizen engagement platform, said under Mr Modi’s leadership, India’s middle class has seen a strong rise in living standards over the past 12 years, boosted by better infrastructure, improved connectivity, tax relief measures and expanded public services.

From smoother transportation to stronger digital access, everyday life has become more efficient and richer in opportunity for millions of families across the country, the company said.

According to the platform, connectivity has reached unprecedented levels and internet penetration has spread across rural and urban India.

With over 103 million connections and drastically reduced data costs, citizens now have seamless access to education, employment opportunities, digital payments and entertainment at minimal cost.

Faster rail travel

MyGov India said that rail travel has become faster and more convenient with the expansion of Vande Bharat services, and with 164 trains in operation and already serving more than 9 million passengers, travel time on key routes has reduced significantly.

New services such as sleeper options further improve long-distance travel comfort for millions of Indians, he said.

The platform further said that urban mobility has improved due to the rapid expansion of metros in major Indian cities, and the growing network is reducing traffic congestion, improving travel reliability and enabling millions of working professionals and students to move faster every day.

“India’s road infrastructure has become more efficient with improved highways and streamlined toll systems, significantly reducing travel delays. This has increased logistics performance and made intercity travel smoother and more predictable for commuters and businesses alike,” it said.
