Transmission Corporation of Telangana Ltd (TG-Transco) Chairman and Managing Director D. Krishna Bhaskar on Friday inspected the flood-hit Extra High Voltage (EHT) feeders in Attapur area on the banks of the Musi river and reviewed power restoration work at all EHT substations.
Mr. Krishna Bhaskar said water entered the 132kV KM Pally substation in Nalgonda district due to heavy rains and the flood submerged the equipment like feeder shafts, insulators, AB (air-break) switches and others. Sensing an emergency, the utility’s engineers immediately intervened and provided power from alternate lines to loads from other substations.
Two feeders, KM Pally to Kodandapur and KM Pally to Nasarlapally, were decommissioned by manually tripping circuit breakers to avoid accidents. After carrying out the repair work, all equipment was restored to normal and both feeders in the 132 kV KM Pally substation were put into operation.
Further, the 132kV Narsampet to Gudur feeder at Nekkonda 132kV substation in Warangal district failed and the feeder was declared out of order. After carrying out the rectification works, the 132 kV Narsampet-Gudur line was re-commissioned and normal power supply was restored. There was no interruption of power supply to any part of the appliances as back-up power was provided during the failures.
The CMD instructed the field engineers to be alert and start emergency work against the background of war. Central fault teams have also been set up at all EHT substations for immediate fault clearing. Director (Transmission) G. Sampath Kumar, Chief Engineer (Metro Zone) Chiranjeevi, Superintending Engineer (Central Metro) Virendra Kumar Vohra accompanied the CMD during the inspection.
