The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) and My Bharat Nellore on Friday (October 31, 2025) organized a ‘Unity March’ from VRC Grounds to Current Office Center, Nellore, to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner YO Nandan was the chief guest. Together with VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Allam Srinivasaraem paid tribute to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who served the country as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Recalling the services of India’s Iron Man, Mr. Nandan said, “He is the architect of the country’s unity. His administrative vision and discipline are the ideal of the government system even today. The nation will become stronger if the youth follows the path he has shown. Every citizen must move forward with the spirit of national unity and harmony.”
Professor Srinivasarao said, “Patel’s life is a symbol of national integrity and an inspiration to all. His strong determination and leadership during India’s freedom struggle and the unification of the country remain a guide even today. Students must inculcate in him patriotism, honesty, discipline and a spirit of service. This is the true tribute we can pay him.”
My Bharatu Coordinator P. Surendra Reddy said, “The dedication and administrative skills of great personalities like Patel are an ideal for every Indian. Young people must remember the significant role he played in uniting the country, be inspired by his sacrifices and move forward in the service of society.”
Dr. A. Mahendra Reddy, District Youth Officer said, “The unity, integrity and spirit of service shown by Sardar Patel must be inculcated in every youth of India. Development of the country is possible through the path he has shown. The role of youth in nation building through social service is very essential.”
VSU Registrar Dr. K. Suneetha, NSS Coordinator Dr. Allam Udayashankar, NSS officers Dr. BV Subbareddy, Dr. Shankar and Dr. Sucharitha; My Bharat Coordinators NK Yashwanth, Subramanyam Reddy, Y. Phani Raju and L. Rajasekhar along with the university faculty and a large number of students participated in the programme.
