Six persons were arrested and narcotics worth over ₹10,000 were seized in a series of raids conducted by excise enforcement teams in Hyderabad and Sangareddy districts.
The seized contraband contains almost one kilogram of hashish oil and more than one kilogram of ganja, which were traded and sold in different parts of the city.
In the biggest seizure, the Sangareddy Excise Enforcement Team seized 964 grams of hashish oil worth around ₹ 10 lakh, which was being illegally transported from Visakhapatnam Agency area to Hyderabad. The operation was conducted along the Kandi–Shankarpally route following a tip-off received by the Medak Enforcement team.
The accused, identified as Anil Kumar Yadav of Brindavan Colony in Katedan, Hyderabad, was arrested. Officials said Anil is a repeat offender with several cases in the past for smuggling narcotics like ganja, drugs and hashish oil.
The accused and the seized contraband were handed over to Sangareddy Excise Station for further investigation.
In another operation, the State Task Force (STF) B team targeted the illegal sale of ganja in Sikh Village near Secunderabad. Acting on a tip-off, officials seized 200 packets of ganja weighing 880 grams from one Sohil, who confessed to bringing the contraband from Nagpur for sale in Hyderabad. The seized material and his mobile phone were handed over to Secunderabad Excise Station.
Meanwhile, in Uppal’s Vijayapuri Colony, STF officers seized 325 grams of ganja and arrested four persons identified as Ravi Teja, Jagadishwar, Dilip and Charan. Two vehicles and four mobile phones used in the offense were also seized. The accused and the seized material were handed over to Uppal Excise Station.
Further investigation is underway.
