SAAP chairman praises para swimmers for shining in national tournament

Para swimmers from Andhra Pradesh put up an outstanding performance in the 26th Junior and Sub-Junior National Para Swimming Championships held in Bengaluru recently, AP Chairman Sports Authority A. Ravi Naidu said.

Congratulating the sportspersons who visited him at his office in Vijayawada on Monday, Mr. Ravi Naidu expressed hope that they would continue to succeed in the future and bring laurels to both the state and the country at the international level.

He assured them that SAAP would provide all necessary support and encouragement to promote talent. The state won 29 medals, including 15 gold, eight silver and six bronze in the tournament.

Later, in another programme, the winning athletes were felicitated at a ceremony organized by the Para Sports Association of Andhra Pradesh (PSAAP) at the Tagore Library in Vijayawada. Indian Blind Cricket Team former captain I. Ajay Kumar Reddy and Chief Librarian Rama Devi attended as chief guests.

They appreciated the athletes for their hard work, determination and achievements and called them an inspiration to the society. Para-athletes who won medals at the national and international levels were honored with certificates of appreciation and mementos.

The representatives of the district associations dealing with the development of parasport were also awarded for their efforts.
