A woman suffered severe burns after a gas cylinder exploded at her residence in SC Colony near Kanipakam in Chittoor district on Wednesday morning.
According to the police, the incident took place when the woman Chinna Papamma (35) lit the stove to make tea. The cartridge is said to have exploded out of nowhere and her clothes subsequently caught fire. Neighbors rushed to her rescue and rushed her to the Government District Hospital here. Her condition is said to be critical.
Meanwhile, the fire brigade and police rushed to the spot and started an investigation to find out the circumstances that led to the blast. A case has been registered.
