Labhu Ram appointed Special Officer to Home Secretary

Labhu Ram, a 2004 batch IPS officer, has been appointed Special Officer to Home Minister Priyank Kharge, a special post created for the officer.

A retired IPS officer, Kempaiah was an advisor to then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Mr. Labhu Ram, who was the IGP (Central Range), was appointed as the State Intelligence Chief in April 2026, an overnight change that ousted S. Ravi from the post. However, Chandragupta replaced Mr Labhu Ram as intelligence chief last week after Mr Siddaramaiah stepped down as chief minister and DK Shivakumar took charge.

Mr. Labhu Ram has also been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Police Computer Wing, Bengaluru, replacing Director General of Police Pronab Mohanty, who headed the Wing until recently when he was transferred as the head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
