
Chittoor District Police on Wednesday organized a student awareness program on cyber crimes, women safety, drug abuse and road safety at PVKN Government College, here on Wednesday. Police said the initiative was part of a district-wide campaign to alert youth and students about cyber scams.
Deputy SP (Chittoor) T. Sainath and City Inspector M. Maheshwar and Crime Inspector Umamaheshwar Rao addressed around 200 students and faculty members. Police officials urged students to avoid drug use, adopt a healthy lifestyle, be careful on social media and immediately report suspicious calls or references to 1930. Speakers explained the “Digital Arrest” scam, where fraudsters impersonate cyber police to extort money.
Police further promoted mobile application ‘Shakti’ to help women in distress and emphasized personal responsibility for road safety and social welfare. Officials of the Office for the Fight against Corruption and teaching staff of the PVKN college were present.
