The Maratha Light Infantry Regiment Center (MLIRC), Belagavi, celebrated the 79th Infantry Day here on Monday.
The occasion was celebrated with solemn pride and reverence, paying sincere tribute to the brave soldiers of the Infantry Center who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Sharqat War Memorial at MLIRC, where Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, Commander, MLIRC, and Major General Rakesh Manocha, Commander, Junior Leaders Wing, paid floral tributes to the fallen heroes.
The ceremony witnessed the participation of Veterans, Officers, JCOs and ORs, Junior Leaders Wing and Station, reaffirming their collective legacy of courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to service.
The event reflected the regiment’s deep respect for its illustrious lineage and the indomitable spirit of the infantry soldiers who continue to guard the nation’s borders with unparalleled courage, resilience and pride.
The function concluded with a social evening at the Defense Officers Mess and Institute (DOMI), Belagavi, where serving personnel and veterans gathered in camaraderie and remembrance to mark the occasion with dignity and gratitude, the statement said.
