As many as 787 pregnant women who are within a week of delivery have been shifted to nearby hospitals in the districts of Krishna, East Godavari, Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema and Eluru as a precautionary measure in view of the impact of Cyclone Montha, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said.
The minister said local authorities are collecting details of pregnant women through ANMs and shifting those in need to the nearest community health centers as well as district and district hospitals. Similar measures are being implemented in all 17 affected districts, he added.
Special arrangements have been made for high-risk pregnant women and medical camps have been set up at 551 rehabilitation centers in 17 districts. A team consisting of a primary health center doctor, an ANM and an ASHA worker has been deployed in each camp, the minister said.
Principal Secretary (Health) Saurabh Gaur instructed the officials, doctors and paramedical staff to follow the SOPs issued to the districts. Health and Family Welfare Chief Commissioner Neelakantha Reddy held a video conference with district officials and superintendents of government general hospitals to review the cyclone preparedness measures.
