The government said more than 600 boats, including mechanized boats engaged in fishing in the Bay of Bengal, had returned safely to shore by Monday (October 27, 2025). In addition, 142 pregnant women were shifted to nearby government hospitals as a precautionary measure due to the cyclonic storm “Montha”.
As many as 269 relief camps have been opened, with evacuation activities underway mostly along the stretch between Kakinada and Uppada, which witnessed heavy winds and rain on Monday. As many as 40 boats and 140 swimmers were deployed in the rescue operation along the coast, mostly on the Uppada coast. According to sources, more than 14,500 inmates of all welfare hostels have been sent home.
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) and District Commissioner Kakinada P. Narayana, presiding over the cyclone preparedness meeting, said Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Vari Devasthanam in Annavaram along with NGOs Alluri Sitarama Raju and Akshaya Foundation will supply 10,000 food packets in relief camps.
“As many as 80 personnel, including 50 from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), have been deployed along the Kakinada coast,” he said. He added that a team of 100 electricity department personnel from Rayalaseema region has arrived for power restoration work in the district.
Special teams have been mobilized in Uppada, Kothapalli, Tallarevu, Thondangi and Kakinada Rural areas in anticipation of heavy rainfall and coastal erosion. Police are guarding the Kakinada-Uppada road, which faces the threat of submergence due to sea erosion. Most of the relief camps have been opened between Kakinada and Uppada coastal belt in which essential commodities are stored to meet the requirements for a week, the minister said.
Up to 23 ambulances are ready to deal with emergencies during the cyclone. In addition, medical and paramedic personnel at Pithapuram and Tallarevu Primary Health Centers will be deployed during the rescue operations.
