A Chennai-based businessman and owner of EVP Film City has been accused of assaulting and harassing a city-based fashion designer by forcing her into a relationship.
Acting on a complaint, the Vyalikaval police recently registered an FIR against Santosh Reddy for voluntary bodily harm, intimidation and sexual harassment.
In her complaint, the victim said she was introduced to Reddy after she took up a design proposal for his daughter for their relative’s wedding. After several conversations, the accused allegedly offered to invest in her business, but she declined.
He then began talking to her and asked if she could gain an alliance for his daughter. The complainant claimed that he recently visited her house to ask for help in pacifying his daughter because he had an argument with his daughter who had stopped talking to him.
The victim claimed he then proposed to her.
When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her and threatened her and her family members with dire consequences.
The police have launched an investigation.
