Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu early on Friday expressed deep grief and concern over the tragic bus accident near Chinna Tekuru village in Kallur mandal of Kurnool district.
The chief minister, who is currently on a three-day tour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), held a teleconference with ministers and senior officials and directed them to rush to the accident site and supervise rescue operations.
During the teleconference, Mr. Naidu spoke to the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and District Collector, Kurnool and instructed them to take all possible measures to identify the deceased and ensure speedy handover of the bodies to their families. He also ordered a detailed investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the tragedy.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Transport Minister M. Ramprasad Reddy, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta reached the accident site. The transport minister has ordered officials to immediately check the eligibility and authorization of all private buses to prioritize public safety.
Expressing deep grief, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita announced an ex gratia of ₹ 5 crore for the families of the deceased and ₹ 2 lakh for the injured. She assured that the government would provide full support to the victims and their families.
Meanwhile, several ministers including K Atchannaidu, BC Janardhana Reddy, Satyakumar Yadav, NMD Farooq, TG Bharath and Anagani Satyaprasad expressed their condolences and expressed anguish over the loss of lives.
