
The reservation for 76 wards of Kozhikode Corporation was decided on an itemized basis under the auspices of Director (Urban) Local Government Department Sooraj Shaji on Tuesday (October 21, 2025). However, the United Democratic Front (UDF) councilor party of the corporation boycotted the event blaming the lack of transparency in the entire process.
On the basis of lots, the wards reserved for female candidates are: Elathur (1), Puthur (4), Karuvisseri (7), Malaparamba (8), Vengeri (10), Civil Station (13), Vellimadukunnu (15), Medical College (16), Kovoor (22), Puthiyara (27), Kuthiravattam (28), Kuthiravattam (28). (31), Methottuthazham (32), Pokkunnu (33), Azhchavattam (36), Thiruvannur (40), Cheruvannur West (47), Marad (50), Naduvattam East (52), Payyanakkal (55), Nadinagar (56), Chakkumkadavu (559), Kut (61), Mavoor Road (62), Thiruthiyad (64), Vellayil (67), Thoppayil (68), Karaparamba (70), East Hill (71), West Hill (73), Edakkad (74) and Puthiyappa (76).
For Scheduled Caste women are reserved: Parayancheri (26) and Mathottam (54). Athanikkal (72) was generally reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates.
Meanwhile, the UDF council claimed that the newly created Mavoor Road ward (62) was created as a women’s reservation ward without inclusion in the entries irrespective of the Election Commission’s directions. UDF council president KC Shobhita and deputy leader K. Moideen Koya said they would lodge a complaint with the State Election Commission in this regard.
On this occasion, reservation seats for Kozhikode district panchayat were also selected through lottery. While Kayakkodi (4), Mokeri (5), Ulliyeri (8), Panangad (9), Kodencheri (12), Omassery (14), Pantheerankavu (16), Kadalundi (17), Kunnamangalam (18), Kakkodi (19), Narikkuni (21), Arikkulam (25) and Payyo (26) are reserved for women, Edacheri (2) are reserved for Scheduled Caste women and Balussery (22) for Scheduled Caste candidates in general.
