Stay vigilant about SIR, Meenakshi tells Congress workers
The Telangana Congress held a series of virtual meetings to train and guide party leaders on voter mapping and the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls, with leaders urging cadres to remain vigilant and protect every genuine vote.
The meeting was chaired by AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.
According to party leaders, six separate Zoom meetings took place, each covering three parliamentary constituencies and lasting about 30 minutes. Discussions focused on voter mapping, procedures involved in the SIR exercise, duties of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and monitoring work done by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The meetings reviewed the process of mapping voters in each assembly constituency and discussed measures to identify voters whose names may have been omitted from the electoral rolls. Officials have been instructed to ensure that eligible voters who have lost their voting rights are assisted in restoring their names through proper documentation and re-application procedures.
Addressing the participants, Meenakshi Natarajan and Mahesh Kumar Goud said that the BJP and the Election Commission were facilitating widespread voter erasure in various parts of the country. They alleged that voter verification exercises were being misused to siphon votes believed to be favorable to opposition parties. They asked the BLA to scrutinize the voter mapping data and ensure that every genuine voter remains on the electoral rolls. Party officials to help affected individuals secure the restoration of their voting rights. Party leader Gampa Venugopal coordinated the meeting while TPCC Election Commission Chairman Rajesh informed the participants about the procedures and guidelines related to the elections.
Party officials said nearly 90 percent of BLA training programs have already been completed. Starting June 25, BLA-2 volunteers will conduct door-to-door visits as part of the voter verification exercise.
Among those who attended the meeting were AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Training Cell Chairman and MLA Rammohan Reddy, along with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, DCC Presidents and Parliamentary Constituency Coordinators.
