A low pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 21, the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) here said on Sunday.
During the next 48 hours, it is likely to move west-northwestward and further intensify into a depression over central parts of South Bay of Bengal and adjoining West-West Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, increased rain activity is likely over North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry between October 22 and 24.
B. Amudha, Head (Additional In-Charge), RMC on Sunday said that four weather systems along with vigorous northeast monsoon are bringing widespread rainfall over the state and Puducherry.
With stormy weather likely to prevail along and off the south coast of Tamil Nadu, over Gulf of Mannar and Comorin area with wind speed reaching 35 kmph to 45 kmph with gusts up to 55 kmph till Tuesday, fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas. Those at sea should return by October 21, she added.

Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram District District Puducherry and Karaikal.
