Lawrence gang member Harry Boxer, who allegedly ran operations from abroad, was attacked in a shooting along with two henchmen in California, US, on Sunday, according to officials. This comes months after the split between Bishnoi and Goldy Brar.
A security agency official said Boxer was attacked by a group of men in Fresno, from where he managed to escape, one of his associates was killed and another was injured in the attack, according to an Indian Express report.
A social media post, said to be by gangster Rohit Godara, claimed credit for the attack shortly after the incident, saying: “This Harry Boxer is a follower of Lawrence Bishnoi. He ran away leaving behind his associate…”
The alleged post also claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi was insignificant compared to Goldy Brar and the Rohit Godary gang, calling Lawrence a traitor and vowing to eliminate his gang.
Additionally, the post warned that anyone who spoke out against the Godara-Goldy gang would face elimination.
Boxer affiliation
Earlier, the Delhi Police believed that Boxer, a native of Rajasthan who is currently in hiding in the US, was part of the Godara-Brar gang. However, Boxer consistently asserted his loyalty to Lawrence Bishnoie’s gang, the report said. In a social media post after the shooting at comedian-actor Kapil Sharma’s Kapil Cafe in Canada earlier this year, Boxer claimed to be associated with Bishnoi’s gang.
Lawrence Bishnoi is incarcerated in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail, while Brar and Godara are believed to be based in the US. Officials believe this could be the first time the rivalry between the Brar and Bishnoi gangs has come to light since their split earlier this year.
Brar-Bishnoi “feud”
“Brar began working with Azerbaijan-based Rohit Godara, while Lawrence was linked with Canada’s Noni Rana. This dispute and the emergence of their new syndicates became a growing source of tension for the state’s police force,” the Indian Express quoted the officer as saying.
His sources suggested that the split occurred after Lawrence grew dissatisfied with Brar and Godara over their handling of his brother Anmol’s case in the United States. They said, “Central intelligence agencies received information that Brar and Godara did not help Anmol to post the required bail. Though Anmol was later released, he was fitted with an ankle bracelet.”
Meanwhile, central agencies in India are keeping a close eye on both gangs as their ongoing rivalry may have domestic repercussions. Police forces in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi are also actively monitoring the situation.
