Describing Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) as Telangana’s crown jewel, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said attempts by opposition leaders to “tarnish” the public sector miner’s image for “narrow political interests” will not be tolerated.

Mr. Vikramarka along with IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu inspected the Srirampur opencast coal mine in Mancherial district on Sunday. SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Buddhaprakash Jyoti and other senior officials accompanied the Deputy CM.

Speaking to the media after conducting an open air inspection of the mine, the Deputy CM said that Singareni workers are the backbone of the public sector miner, who drive its growth through their hard work and dedication.

He alleged that opposition leaders are spreading false propaganda against SCCL through narrow political machinations. Any attempts to diminish the dignity of the workforce and their tireless efforts will not be tolerated, he said, adding that SCCL would continue to operate transparently.

The Deputy CM, who holds finance and power in his portfolio, reviewed the functioning of the surface mine and safety measures, besides checking the coal transport records.

The SCCL officials briefed the CM representatives about the GPS-based Vehicle Tracking System (VTS), geofencing, boom barriers, surveillance cameras and other reliable systems to ensure transparency in the entire spectrum of SCCL’s coal mining operations, including loading, dispatch and transportation of coal through the use of technology.
