For 11 students of Shri Hingulambika Kannada and Marathi Medium High School, Kalaburagi, the reward of academic excellence turned into an unforgettable life experience.

Thanks to the unique initiative of their teachers, the students traveled by air for the first time as part of an educational tour to Bengaluru.

In a remarkable gesture, nine teaching and non-teaching staff of the school voluntarily contributed their salaries to sponsor an educational tour to Bengaluru for the students, spending nearly ₹1.20 lakh.

The initiative was aimed at recognizing academic achievements and at the same time broadening students’ horizons through activities in educational, scientific and cultural institutions.

The tour, organized on June 11, included students of classes 8, 9 and 10 who were selected for their school performance.

English teacher Santoshima Basavaprabhu coordinated travel arrangements, including airfare, while other staff gathered resources to make the program possible.

During the visit, the students toured the Vidhana Soudha and, with special passes, visited the chambers of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council to see with their own eyes the functioning of democratic institutions.

They also visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and the ISKCON temple.

The students traveled by Namma metro to Yeshwantpur station and then returned to Kalaburagi by train.

The educational tour was organized for 11 deserving students, including three students from class 8 and 9 and five students from class 10, who were selected in recognition of their academic performance and commitment to study.

The students who participated in the tour were Shaikh Aarafat Ahmed, Swayam, Laxmi, Chandrika and Bhagyashree who scored the highest marks in SSLC, Sharanu, Nandini and Shraddha from Class 9 and Bhavani, Bhagyalaxmi and Trisha from Class 8.

The students were accompanied by Principal Raju V. Hanchate and staff members Heeramani Chavan, Anasuya Kalekar, Megha Bhaskarao, Shridevi Kusnoor, Santoshima Basavaprabhu, Sheetal Hirave, Saroja Jadhav and Laxmikanth Hibare.

Mr Hanchate said the initiative was not only conceived as a reward for academic achievement but as an investment in aspiration that encourages students to dream bigger and pursue higher educational goals.
