A government bus driver was indicted on Friday (October 17, 2025) for allegedly sexually assaulting schoolgirls.
On Wednesday (October 15), a 13-year-old schoolgirl boarded a government bus from Avanaiyur to reach her school. According to the police, the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by bus conductor Chinnasamy (45), a resident of Sithur near Edappadi.
After school, in the evening, the girl talked to her mother about the incident and also said that the conductor misbehaved with six other girls who regularly ride the bus. Following this, the girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the Sankari All Women’s Police on Thursday (October 16) evening.
On Friday, the police registered a case under Section 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) against the bus conductor. Further investigation is underway.
