A 20-year-old B.Pharmacy student was found murdered with multiple injuries near the railway tracks behind Mantri Mall in Bengaluru’s Malleswaram on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Yamini Priya, a resident of Srirampura. She was returning home after appearing for an exam at her college.
Initial investigations revealed that the assailant followed Priya and allegedly attacked her with a deadly weapon, stabbing her several times in the neck and back before fleeing the scene. She died due to excessive bleeding.
The murder came to light when passers-by spotted the victim lying dead on the roadside and alerted the police.
The Srirampur police reached the spot and conducted a spot investigation before shifting the body for post-mortem. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and the surrounding area to identify the attacker. Initial investigations point to someone who might have killed Priya after she rejected his proposal, police said.
Priya’s call recording details are also being verified. “We have got some leads and we are working on it,” said the officer.
