
Rama Ekadashi 2025: One of the most auspicious Hindu festivals is happening today, October 17. The day dedicated to Lord Vishnu falls twice a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. This day, which falls on the eleventh day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik, has great religious and spiritual significance.

Meaning of Rama Ekadashi
Ekadashi Parana is performed after sunrise on the next day of the Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi ends before sunrise. Not doing Parana in Dwadashi is akin to an offence.
Considered an extremely sacred day, on the occasion of Ekadashi Lord Vishnu is worshiped with utmost devotion. Although a total of 24 Ekadashi ceremonies are held during the year during Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha, the ones that fall on the auspicious and revered month of Kartik are considered the most pious and sacred.

It is believed that devotees who observe a fast from Ekadashi Tithi to Dwadashi Tithi on this day are freed from all types of sins and sufferings. Hence, Rama Ekadashi, also known as Rambha Ekadashi or Kartik Krishna Falls, has a special significance.
“Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on the next day of the Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi if Dwadashi does not end before sunrise,” says Drik Panchang.
According to tradition, the ideal time to break the fast is during Pratahkal (early morning hours). It is advisable to avoid breaking the fast, which is considered equivalent to thousands of Ashwamedha yagya, during Madhyahna (noon period). If for some reason one is unable to break the fast during Pratahkal, one should do so after Madhyahn. On this day, devotees engage in deep daan at Vishnu temples to seek divine blessings.
According to the Tamil calendar, Rama Ekadashi falls in the month of Puratasi, while in states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, it falls in the month of Ashwina, also known as Ashwayuja. On this holy day, devotees pray to Lord Vishnu with great devotion and devotion.
