New rules for patient records

Separately, BIS has also prescribed detailed case record forms for Siddha therapies. Treatment centers will now be required to maintain patient records including demographics, medical and surgical history, pre-existing conditions, current medication, allergy status, laboratory tests, clinical diagnosis and basic parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and body mass index. The standards also require the maintenance of patient registries, incident reporting and pharmacovigilance records to monitor adverse effects and establish rules for therapist qualifications, patient screening, treatment procedures, hygiene practices and follow-up care.
