Sridhar Vembu, Chief Scientist, Zoho Corporation said small experiments and initiatives and the ability to learn from failures should be the hallmark of India’s march towards self-sufficiency here on Wednesday.
Addressing the 40th convocation of the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), he said that the talent pool in India is sufficient to develop technology on the path to self-sufficiency. He said his company did not play the blame game, but rather learned from the failures. Being able to incorporate the lessons and stay in the game for the long haul opened up possibilities. Citing the examples of Zoho’s email platform and medical equipment division, he said the company took its time before starting to ship products and even had to curtail operations to get things right. “All of this was possible because we don’t play the blame game. Instead, we thought we’d see what we could learn.”
During the convocation, 1,871 graduates, including 21 PhD, 786 PG and 1,084 UG, were awarded. VR Venkatachalam, Chancellor, SRIHER, and RV Sengutuvan, Vice-Chancellor were present.
