A group of students and teachers from Srinagar’s Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh, had a unique cultural experience with the young children of Government Fisheries Lower Primary School, Kadalundi Nagaram on Wednesday.
After seeing the sea and the beach for the first time in their lives, the Kashmiri girls showed an overwhelming sense of wonder as they interacted with the fishing school children.
As the school and its children celebrated Chefs Day on Wednesday, five days ahead of World Chefs Day, the Kothi Bagh girls treated the host children to the popular Kashmiri salad. The girls taught the young children the recipe and preparation of their favorite salad.

The cultural visit of 10 Kothi Bagh girls and three teachers was organized by the Faizal and Shabana Foundation (FSF), which adopted a Srinagar school and renovated it on the model of the Government Higher Vocational College for Girls, Nadakava.
FSF is giving first-class support to Kothi Bagh School by spending ₹20 crore and its first phase of inauguration is scheduled on 27th October. The foundation has already converted Kadalundi Nagaram Fisheries College into a campus with state-of-the-art facilities by spending over ₹1 crore.
Fisherman children entertained their Kashmiri guests with cultural events like Oppana and Mapilapattu. The mothers of the children brought delicious Malabar dishes from home so that the visitors had an experience.

As it was the school’s chef day, chefs from Tulah Wellness Sanctuary, Chelembra, joined the celebrations and shared food with the children and visitors.
The Kashmiri group also visited the Tulah Wellness Sanctuary and experienced wellness practices, sustainable landscaping and the Tulah philosophy of holistic living.
Later they visited the Kadalundi-Vallikkunnu Community Reserve, Kerala’s first community reserve.
School Principal Rena P., President Vallikkunnun Panchayat Shylaja K., FSF Fishery School Project Manager Nimmy Theresa and Project Coordinator angha nv welcomed the Visit.
