Babar Azam may not be enjoying much in international cricket, but the Pakistan batsman remains one of the most watched cricketers in the country. The craze for the batting star was evident on his 31st birthday when Pakistan played South Africa in a test match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Defying security measures, the fan climbed onto the stands on the first floor of the iconic stadium before making his way towards the dressing room. The fan, who can be seen gesturing at one of his friends who was filming the video, approached the dressing room and told members of the support staff that he wanted to meet Babar Azam.

Pakistan’s head coach, Azhar Mahmood, is seen on video telling the fan to stand down and warning him not to stay anywhere near the dressing room. However, the fan remained insistent and continued to request a meeting with Babar Azam who was inside. Mahmood was then seen alerting security, who escorted the fan away from the dressing room area.
Another video shows a group of fans calling for Babar to come out of the dressing room. After hearing chants from the stands below, members of Pakistan’s support staff are seen bringing Babar out. The batting star then waves to his fans and makes their day.

Babar celebrated his 31st birthday on Wednesday, October 15, and it was a double treat for the fans as Pakistan opened the Test World Cup cycle with a victory over world Test champions South Africa in the first of a two-match series at home.
Babar played a decisive knock of 42 in the second innings, at a time when the batting conditions in Lahore had become much tougher. Pakistan sealed a 93-run win to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Veteran spinner Noman Ali, 39, was named man of the match after taking 10 wickets in both innings.
However, Pakistan’s victory was built on a strong batting effort in the first innings as Imam-ul-Haq (93), Mohammad Rizwan (75) and Salman Ali Agha (93) helped the hosts post a commanding total of 378.
Chasing 277 for victory, South Africa were reduced to 55 for 4 before Dewald Brevis and Ryan Rickelton leveled the innings with a 73-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Touted as the next big thing in world cricket, Brevis launched a spirited counter-attack but was thwarted by a brilliant delivery from left-arm spinner Noman Ali. His dismissal triggered a collapse, with South Africa losing their last six wickets for just 55 runs.
Babar will be looking to make a mark in the Test series after losing his place in the T20I squad. The right-handed batsman is part of the ODI squad and will be an integral part of their plans ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
