
DA Hike News: The good news ahead of Diwali is that Himachal Pradesh government employees will see a hike in their salaries as Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has announced a hike in DA for state government employees and pensioners.
Sukhu has announced release of 3% Dignity Allowance (DA) for Himachal Pradesh Government employees and pensioners.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, hours after Karnataka announced a hike in DA for employees.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the biennial general convention of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board Employees’ Union in Shimla.
Dearness allowance is a special allowance usually given to civil servants and pensioners based on their basic salary to compensate for inflation.
Himachal Pradesh DA Hike: When Will You Get Hike?
According to Sukhu, the government will release the increased 3% DA salary to employees and pensioners with their October bonuses. Employees and pensioners are expected to receive increased wages due in November.
Arrears for the period from April to September 2025 will also be deposited into employees’ bank accounts in October. According to the statement, separate orders will be issued for payment of arrears from July 2023 to March 2025.
The Chief Minister said that after discussions with union leaders, the government would consider providing one pension scheme (OPS) to employees.
Karnataka And tourism
Himachal’s DA hike was announced shortly after Karnataka also announced a 2% DA hike to its employees and pensioners.
The state government has increased the welfare allowance for employees to 14.25% from the earlier level of 12.25% of their basic pay.
The Karnataka state government also said that as per the Finance Ministry’s notification, the increase in DA will also apply to pensioners.
Center announces DA hike
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on October 1 approved a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners with effect from July 1, 2025.
This increases the current rate from 55% to 58% of basic pay or pension, according to a government statement.
The hike, which aims to offset the impact of inflation, will benefit around 49.19 million central government employees and 68.72 million pensioners.
