Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday (Jun 14, 2026) slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of “undermining” the achievements of India and its people while targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre. She claimed that Rahul Gandhi was “ignoring” India’s achievements even in the face of major crises like COVID and conflict in West Asia. Ms. Sitharaman clarified that there is no crisis in the country as portrayed by Rahul Gandhi.

“Every time the Leader of the Opposition speaks in the Lok Sabha, it is only to condemn everything, to undermine the achievements of the people of India, thinking that he is undermining Prime Minister Modi or the central government,” she said in her address to party functionaries at the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Samavesha in Bengaluru to celebrate 12 years of the country’s BJP under the Modren government

According to her, Rahul Gandhi keeps saying that everything will collapse in the next few weeks. LoP keeps saying that there is a big disaster ahead, but there is no disaster ahead for India.

“On the contrary, quarter after quarter, year after year, India is the fastest growing economy,” she underlined.

The Union minister said that it is not the government that claims India as the fastest growing economy, but the GDP and also the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Ms. Sitharaman said that even during the crisis in West Asia, the Prime Minister ensured that there was no disruption in fuel supply.

The Minister of Finance explained the problems in transporting fuel from West Asia.
