The YSRCP has decided to intensify its nationwide agitation against the government’s move to “privatize government medical colleges”.
YSRCP state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said at a review meeting of the party’s affiliate wings on Wednesday that the issue had created widespread public concern. The ‘Rachabanda’ and signature campaign received an overwhelming response.
He warned that privatization of government medical colleges would “destroy the dreams” of poor and middle-class students and opposed the move to hand over public institutions to private companies “through the back door”. He called the move a betrayal of public health and social justice.
Comparing the current administration with the previous YSRCP government, he said, “While YS Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced transparent welfare delivery systems, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has turned around a government marked by exploitation, distortion of accountability and spread of spurious liquor.”
Urging the cadres to fight against the government’s “anti-people policies”, he said the YSRCP remained rooted among the masses.
He ordered the affiliate wings to coordinate with headquarters, complete the formation of committees and conduct a public campaign against privatization.
