The Panchayat Raj Engineering Department is all set to float tenders for a massive ₹ 6,294.81 crore road upgradation project under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
The project includes construction, upgrading and maintenance of roads connecting Gram Panchayats (GPs) to Mandal Headquarters, Mandal Headquarters to District Headquarters and District Headquarters to State Headquarters.
Tenders will be floated on October 17 by Chief Engineer PR Hyderabad for 17 packages covering 2,162 roads of 7,449.50 km in 96 constituencies.
Under the HAM model, 40% of the project cost will be borne by the government during construction, while 60% will be mobilized by bank contractors. The contractors will also be responsible for maintaining the roads for 15 years after the 2.5-year construction period.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) said the HAM project will significantly develop village roads and boost the rural economy. This flagship program aims to transform rural roads and improve transport infrastructure.
