The Telangana High Court on Wednesday extended till November 18 the interim order passed on September 24 staying the single judge’s order to re-evaluate the answer scripts of the Group I Mains examination.
Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin extended the interim order while hearing appeals filed by the TGPSC challenging the order of the single judge. The bench directed the councils of the “unsuccessful candidates” to file their counter-affidavits by November 18.
The unsuccessful candidates first filed writ petitions seeking to cancel the Group I Mains examination citing various reasons such as more number of candidates being selected from select centers and TGPSC citing different ticket numbers for the preliminary and mains examination. The Single Judge, delivering the verdict, set aside the Final Marks List and General Ranking of Selected Candidates.
The single judge also instructed the TGPSC to re-conduct the mains examinations if revaluation of the mains answer sheets could not be done. This order of the single bench was carved out by a division bench headed by CJ. The unsuccessful candidates moved the Supreme Court, which challenged the division bench’s order. But the Supreme Court sent the matter back to the Telangana HC.
