Police expand Bandi Bageerath POCSO investigation before remand

Three days after the arrest of Bandi Sai Bageerath in connection with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) case, the Cyberabad police are preparing to file a remand seeking his interrogation in the case.

Mr. Bageerath was arrested on May 16, almost a week after a case was registered at the Petbasheerabad police station on a complaint lodged by the mother of a 17-year-old girl. The complainant accused him of sexually assaulting and emotionally manipulating her daughter over a period of several months.

After the victim’s statement, the police added § 64 paragraph 2 letter m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act regarding repeated rape and § 5 letter

Meanwhile, investigators have completed reconstructing the sequence of events described by the victim by verifying evidence from several locations, including the farmhouse in Moinabad where the victim claimed to have been assaulted on New Year’s Eve.

Police teams are said to have verified the booking details, examined CCTV footage, analyzed digital and payment paths and questioned employees present at the affected locations. Friends of the accused, who were allegedly present at the time of the incident, were also questioned during the investigation.

Officials said data records and IP-related information were analyzed to match the locations and timelines provided in the victim’s statement.

Investigators suspect that the accused deleted key evidence from his cellphone before his arrest. Forensic and technical analysis is currently underway to retrieve the deleted content and examine the data associated with his phone.

Meanwhile, the Telangana High Court is scheduled to deliver its verdict on Mr. Bageerath’s anticipatory bail application on May 21.
