The last session was about this partnership – Hope and Campbell’s Unboken 138 -Urun Stand, the largest for Western India throughout the series. Campbell, who was scratched all the series, finally found a rhythm, although he survived several close calls of LBW – still undefeated to 87. Hope, elegant as always, raised the first test fifty in 31 shifts and reminded everyone of elegance that once defined his name. Together they frustrated the Kuldeep, negotiated Sundar’s drift, and Jadeja looked commonly on the rotary track. Indian pitching emerged, but the playground, now much slower, did not offer them any quick goals.
