The police identified at least 24 suspicious pedophiles who shared visual elements of sexual abuse of children in cyberspace, and 10 victims during the recent educational program.
Police staff identified offenders of crimes during training on the identification of the victim, which took place at the Keral Police Academy in Thrissur from September 29 to October 9. Training for 40 officers from 18 countries and several investigative agencies took place on Saturday (October 11) (October 11).
“The participants worked on 55 living cases and identified 24 suspects and 10 victims in various incidents. The identification was mostly carried out by access to the metada in the background, objects and votes listed in the content of the participants.
Suspects and victims were identified from different parts of the country. Detailed reports of the findings will be prepared and sent to the police units concerned for further measures, the officer added.
The training was organized with the aim of equipping the police to effectively intervene in rapidly growing cases related to the production and circulation of the materials of sexual abuse of children. “Those who circulate such a content are often identified and charged, but predators can remain anonymous. The training program was to solve this gap,” the officer said.
The sessions concerned technical and practical aspects, as well as training that deal with possible emotional and psychological challenges that investigators encounter such crimes. Training was carried out by state police officers, the central investigation office and experts from Childlight Global Child Safety Institute based in the University of Edinburgh in the UK.
“The participants brought data from their states in cases where they were unable to identify victims. They really wanted to find out who these children were and shared information across states. The work led them to identify the perpetrators and in several cases of children’s security,” said Deborah FRY, global data director and international research professor.
