The actor-stuck-politician and Minister of Trade Union Suresh Gopi expressed a strong desire to return to his film career and stated that his income “completely stopped” since he took the ministerial role in the central government.
At Kannura, Kannura, Kerale, Thrissur MP and Foreign Minister for Oil and Natural Gas and Tourism, he said that he was missing and he wanted to deal with his political responsibilities with his passion for the cinema.
“I really want to continue playing. I have to earn more; my income has now completely stopped,” Gopi said.
“Never wanted to be Minister of End of Films”
Veteran Malayalam, who joined the BJP in October 2016, said he had never applied to become a minister and hoped to continue the films.
“The day before the elections, I told reporters that I didn’t want to become a minister. I wanted to continue my cinema career,” he said, adding that the party may have chosen it as the Minister as a recognition of the mandate he received from people.
Gopi also suggested that C Sadanandan Master, head of Kannura and Rajya Sabha MP, should replace it in a trade union cabinet. “I say sincerity that Sadanandan Master should be after removal of the Minister of Trade unions after removal. I believe it will become a new chapter in the political history of Keraly,” he said.
“Words are often twisted”
The Minister also dealt with the recent criticism of his use of the word praja (citizens) to describe the people of his constituency. Gopi said his words were intentionally incorrectly interpreted by opponents.
“What is wrong with using Praja? Previously, sanitary workers were called manual gadgets and are now known as hygienists. Likewise, Praja and Prajatantra are not offensive conditions,” he said.
