A 61 -year -old woman died when she tried to save her friend from an electric current in Pallopad near Haripad in Alappuzha on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Sarala from Pallad. Her girlfriend Sreelatha remains in a critical state. According to the police, there was an incident at 11:30 when women worked in Paddy Polder in Panamoottakad. Sreelatha came into contact with the cut out of the electric column. When she saw it, Sarala rushed to help her, but she was electric.
Both women were rushed to the Taluk Hospital, Haripad, where Sarala was declared dead.
The locals argued that the state electric plaque Kerala delayed the repair of the cut off wire, which led to a tragedy.
The police registered the case in connection with the incident.
