Main Minister Siddarahaiah praised the veteran of Kannad by writer Hampa Nagarajaiah, known as Hampan, as a literary force that committed himself to social transformation.
Siddaramaiaha, who spoke to the retrospective event “Hampana 90” in Gandhi Bhavan, appreciated Hampan for living a purposeful life dedicated to socially conscious literature.
“Hampana is not just a writer; she is an agent of change. His commitment to Kannada’s literature and society is huge,” said Mr. Siddaramaiaha. He emphasized Hampan’s roles as a scholar, speaker, academic and former President of Kannad Sahitya Parishat, underlining his contributions to language, literary criticism, linguistics and children’s literature.
Mr. Siddaramaiah also appreciated Hampan’s possession as director of Kannada Studies Centers and his determination to take care of the literary community. Siddaramaiaha, who recognized the literary contributions of his wife, Kamal Hampan, described the couple as “remarkable literary duo”.
