
The Minister of Industry and Food Processing TG Bharath on Saturday ceremonially solemnly carried out a unit of value processing with value added in Pradhan mantri Matsya Sampad Yojana (PMMSY) at Nannur Toll Gate. “Our goal is to promote fish consumption and strengthen the fishing industry through production and processing with added value,” he said.
Mr. Bharath said at the event that the establishment of these units would increase the opportunities for fishermen and sensitize the public to include more nutritional seafood in their diet. He stressed that the state government had a strong commitment to promote fishing industry by helping fish -based businesses and ensuring the availability of healthy and local foods.
The district collector A. Siri said that a new unit was set up to support the importance of fish and shrimp consumption and its health benefits among the public. She said that 75 % of meals offered will be on the basis of seafood, with the remaining 25 % will include chicken and mutton.
The project, set up for the price of 50 MAKH, was the result of 60 % of financial assistance from central and state governments and 40 % from the AS contribution.
Manyam MLA Charitha Reddy and Fisheries Deputy Director Ranganath Babu were also present.
