The groups of civil society decided to launch a nationwide campaign called “My vote, my right” against exercise.
The decision on the commencement of the campaign was taken at a round table held in Bengalur, in which about 100 persons representing organizations of civil society, political parties, trade unions, women’s rights, citizens concerned, independent activists, writers and student groups concerned participated.
Example Bihar
Clifton d’Razario, the State Secretary of the Liberation CPI (ML), quoted Sir’s experience in Bihar, where 68 voters were erased that women, Dalites, Muslims and migrant workers were affected by those who were affected by Sir.
“In Bihar, the shocking ECI refused to receive widely held identification documents. Most of the poor, non -nitetic women, Dalits and other backward classes did not have the documents required by the ECI,” he said.
Mr. Vinay Sreenivasa, who represented Bahutva Karnataka, said the whole foundation of Sir followed the same logic as CAA-NRC. “Until 2023, it was on the election commission to prove that the voter is not eligible to vote before removing his name. Under the proposed sir, citizens are shown to be eligible to vote. This will cause citizens to cause citizens to get injured and lead to marginalization,” he said.
Problems with ID
Mr. Sreenivasa said that the voter ID issued by the ECI was not a valid document in the new process. Despite the call for CAA-NRC waiting for the Supreme Court and nationwide protests, ECI tried the same CAA-NRC under other disguise, as he claimed.
Indudara HonnaPura, the founder of the DSS, noted that: “Voters choose their leaders, but now the Election Commission is taking it to choose voters.”
“Govt should act”
Rizwan Khan, a social activist from Ballari, suggested that the Government of the Congress in Karnataka should be convinced to adopt a resolution in the State Assembly, such as Kerala against Sir.
