The proposal of the work policy of the Ministry of Labor Union, Shram Shakti Niti 2025, which was released for public comments on Wednesday (October 8, 2025), faces the opposition of trade unions. The Congress of Trade Unions The whole India (Aituc) said on Thursday that it refuses to propose a work policy because of the nature of its revelation as a “unilateral dictate” of the BJP government. “This comes in an obvious violation of the established tripartite process. This deeply alarming and anti -democratic step has left workers and trade unions with a sense of shock and betrayal,” said the Secretary General Aituc Amarjeet Kaur.
Mrs. Kaur urged the Ministry of Labor of the Union to immediately withdraw the proposal and initiate discussions with the Central Trade unions (CTU) before its completion of public opinion. “Working policy means that the government’s comprehensive framework for regulating the workplace and management of the working environment in the country, the provision of labor rights and protection. Discussion with CTU as the main parties prior to the elaboration of such policy are standard and fundamental practice in India. Only such practice ensures legitimacy and effectiveness of policy.
Consultation is the foundation stone
The head of the trade unions said that consultations with trade unions are neither formality nor formality; It is the cornerstone of the policy of sound work. “We are increasingly condemning the Ministry of Labor in the release of the proposal of working policy, circumvention of basic dialogue with trade unions. National work policy sets a government strategy for its workforce. It should include job protection, believed and should be in the field of labor.
“Based on the background of Pro-Corporate and BJP anti-workers, the proposal of policy comes as an honest document that seeks to legitimize its attitude against workers,” she said, adding that policy is not dealing with employment, employment generation and minimum wage wages. Aituc also questioned the “false narrative of universal social security” and said that social security programs are not social security. “Every worker, including those in an unorganized sector, daily wage workers, concert, occasional, contracts, agricultural, domestic and domestic workers, should be provided minimum wages and social security because they should be secured by strict inspections.
